Janet Mbugua is a Broadcast Journalist by profession she is currently a Prime Time News Anchor and Reporter on Kenya’s Citizen Television, as well as Founder and Managing Trustee for Inua Dada Foundation.
In her broadcasting career Janet has covered notable events like the 2013 Memorial and Funeral Service for former South Africa President Nelson Mandela, the 2013 and 2007 Kenya elections, the 2012 U.S.A. elections and the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. She has also interviewed high profile individuals across Africa and further afield, including in the U.S.A. and Brazil.
Starting out in Radio at the age of 19 on Nairobi’s Capital FM, gave Janet an edge over most people her age as well as allowed her to gradually gain confidence and credibility in her chosen field of Media. She was then headhunted for the position of News Anchor, Reporter and Producer, as well as part-time host of the Pan-African Current Affairs show, Africa 360, by e TV in Johannesburg, South Africa, in 2009.
Beyond broadcasting Janet is also the Founder & Director of Media Avenue Limited, where she provides services which include Public Speaking, Moderating & Emceeing.
Janet has also been actively involved in empowering and mentoring young people particularly in guiding young girls as they transition through various stages in their life.
She completed a 2-year Mass Communication Course from Limkokwing University, Malaysia, and is currently pursuing a MBA in Global Business Management at the Swiss Management Academy, Nairobi, Kenya.
