Our Principles and Values

Inua Dada upholds and promotes the principles stated in Articles 1 – 42 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) including Articles 43 – 44 (implementation measures) that outline how governments and organizations serving children should work to ensure that child rights are protected and upheld.

UNCRC General Principles

Participation

All children are human beings who deserve dignity and human rights (the right to act in certain circumstances and the right to be heard in decision-making).

Protection

All children have the right to be provided with a safe environment and protected from harmful acts or practices (from neglect, physical or mental abuse, discrimination, exploitation).

Provision

All children have the right to survival and have their basic needs fulfilled (access to education, adequate health care, food, clothing, shelter and a basic standard of living).

Promotion

All children deserve to be educated on the UNCRC (Governments must work to ratify and implement the UNCRC in their respective countries as well as make the Convention known to children and adults).
